Never forget that behind every application you submit is a system designed to filter you out before your application gets to a human being. Don’t make it easy for the systems to reject you. Make the fit obvious to it as though a six-year-old would be reading the resume even though it’s a computer. I’ll tell you having worked in recruiting for as many years as I have, it’s the biggest mistake people make if they’re going to apply for a job. Better yet is to network your way in, but I know many of you won’t.
