Do you make the rules?
Probably, not.
You may make the rules as far as your desk or your department but you don’t have institutional responsibility for creating the rules the drive delivery of policies and practices that implement the vision for your organization.
There is nothing wrong with that EXCEPT when those rules suck the life out of you.
There is nothing wrong with that EXCEPT when all you’re left to do is argue you about Cheeto dust at the bottom of the bag (I suspect you know what I mean).
Most arguments are an important and accomplish so little is to be ridiculous.
The more you can focus on the big picture and what you’re trying to accomplish with your ideas vis-à-vis the bigger picture, the more important you become.
I remember as a young teen saying the play, “Oliver,” on Broadway. Based upon the book, “Oliver Twist,” there is a famous scene where Oliver walks over and asks, “Can I have some more please?”
Think about that the next time you get into an argument that your office.
