By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
Jack Kelly wrote this for Forbes. It gives a high-level perspective on how to answer the question.
When the interviewer asks, tell me about yourself, what they’re really asking you is, “Tell me about what you do at your job and why your background is right for this.”
This opens the door for you to sell your background, skills, education, talents, current and past responsibilities to prove that you can do all that’s required for this new position.
Walk the interviewer through your daily responsibilities, projects you are proud of working on, and some of your previous roles. Avoid going back more than 10 years. You should also add details about your education, interests, and remember, everything you say should relate to the position you’re interviewing for. Share only positive things. There’s no need to list your faults. There’s a lot more JobSearch.Community
