Some of you may think a few of these are overt. My habit is to give people the benefit of the doubt. Certainly, the last one may be overt. And for employers, there are several signals you give that show you’re a loser.

Covert racism is hard to detect. But there are signals that firms give throughout the interviewing and hiring process. The first one is asking questions that aren’t really relevant to the job. They make assumptions about your abilities or qualifications based upon your race. Bizarre.
They give you less attention or respect than other people and they also make you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The last one is a subtle. They make an offer, but it’s always low. You know, they really are signaling they don’t want to hire you.
