I was in the car, unable to get this Sunday’s Giants game to send the audio that would allow me to listen to the game. The Giants, the team I root for, was up 19-3 in the second quarter of the game, despite playing the hated Philadelphia Eagles, a team that has won so many consecutive games against the Giants that it was ridiculous.
I then saw, the score was 19-11 and sensed th momentum shift after Giants QB, Eli Manning threw an interception no long before half-time.
Eventually, The Eagles took the lead, 22-19 before the Giants tied the score 22-22 with 5+ minutes left in the game. I texted my brother, “When they didn’t score the TD with first and ten from the 15, the game was over.”
And it was. The Eagles won 25-22.
How did I know the Giants were not going to win?
I knew because winners find the way to win . . . and losers find the way to lose. Often, they do that by trying not to lose. They try to play safe, instead of fighting the full game to destroy their opponent.
I want to remind you of this lesson and ask you where are you trying to avoid losing and, thus, not winning. Good enough usually isn’t in sports or professionally with the result being failure.
