Job Summary:

About the Role & Team:

The Senior Financial Accountant will work closely with Local Language, US Channels Marketing, Magazine Business Operations (circulation & production), and National Geographic Finance Teams on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have an accounting background, has excellent problem-solving skills, excellent time management, is well organized, and has strong communication skills.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with the National Geographic US Channels Marketing Accounting. Work closely with Disney Controllership on system and process improvements to ensure consistency with Disney policies and procedures
  • Become a subject matter expert for the National Geographic instance of M360, The Walt Disney Company’s marketing system. This role needs to understand the data inputs as well as the outputs of M360 in order to ensure US Channels Marketing is properly recorded, tracked, and monitored. This role will also upload invoices and perform a reconciliation between M360 and SAP and is responsible for uploading budgets into M360 and subsequently accruing marketing invoices quarterly
  • Assist with marketing transactions that relate specifically to the National Geographic Partnership while ensuring compliance with The Walt Disney Company consolidated results. These transactions include eliminations
  • Assist with the revenue recognition accounting for International Magazine Licensing Agreements revenue and related transactions
  • Assist with vendor set-ups and payments, working closely with the National Geographic Media and US Channels Marketing Teams to ensure timely and accurate payments
  • Initiate the WBS set-up process for Channels Marketing
  • Assist with the preparation and review of periodic Balance Sheet reconciliations according to Disney policy and procedures
  • Assist with the closing process including required journal entry preparation for National Geographic Media and US Channels Marketing. This also includes reviewing and recording accruals for royalties, reimbursable expenses and minimum guarantees
  • Assist with other projects as required

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC Rules and Regulations is highly desired
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office applications and enterprise GL solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage time efficiently, and meet required deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience preferred
  • Advance Excel skills preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
