The Design System Product Manager will be a champion for our design system. They will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our design language and ensuring its successful implementation across all customer- and employee-facing digital products. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building a single source of truth for design and development, fostering efficiency, and championing a cohesive user experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with design, product, and engineering teams to define the vision, roadmap, and implementation strategy for the design system.
  • Manage the design system backlog, prioritizing features and ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to create and maintain the design system’s core components, UI kits, and documentation.
  • Shape and manage the design system governance process.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication plan to drive adoption of the design system across the organization.
  • Establish metrics to track the success of the design system and measure its impact on design consistency, development efficiency, and overall business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and feedback around the design system.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in product management, design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in building and managing design systems or a strong understanding of design system principles.
  • Experience with setting up product management structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with design tools (like Figma).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. 
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. 
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. 
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Experience with design system tooling (like Storybook).
  • Proven track record in developing and maintaining design system documentation.
  • Degree in design, art, or computer science.
