Why Workshops, Courses and Bootcamps Don’t Work
Hi. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. People hire me for no BS job search, coaching and career advice globally, because I make finding work and succeeding at it much easier.
I haven’t done a brain teaser question a long time. And this one is, you have 5623 participants in a tournament. How many games would it take to be played to determine the winner?
Now you can answer by saying, “Really? This is going to help you decide whether I’m qualified to do this job?” At which point, you can continue on by going, “Okay, and we’re going to assume it’s a single elimination tournament. So we start off with 5,623. So after one round, we’re at 2812, two rounds, 1406, three rounds, and you go through the entire process of people losing on a given round. Now on round 13, you’re at the winner, follow it yourself. But the goal here is they want to see whether or not you can figure out the process. What’s the logical approach for doing this, so that in this way, they’re able to watch you sort this out. And again, one of the fun things is to start off by saying, “Really? You want me to go through all of this? Okay,” and then go through the process.
