What’s The Point?
When Sophie contacted me, she was carrying a burden with her. She was given an assignment that she thought was futile.
“What’s the point,” she proclaimed early in our session.
Most of the time, when we hear the question, “What’s the point,” it represents a lament that the task, the conversation, the proposal is pointless.
However, consider figuring out “What’s ‘the point.’” Why does someone think doing this matters? Is this truly purposeless work or something that someone else thinks is meaningful but its intention hasn’t been expressed clearly enough to us?
Too often, people spend so much time weeding without taking time to step back to look at the garden. Is there a garden you aren’t seeing because your manager wants to keep your head down removing weeds all the time?
What’s the point?
What can inspire you to be great, do world-class work, and be the person you believed you would be when you graduated from college before you became systematized, pasteurized, and homogenized?
A professional football team, the New York Giants, played more than one quarter without either their starting quarterback or their backup quarterback and won!
