Being home has meant getting used to the inconvenience of access to water. In Asheville where I live and where the hurricane destroyed so much, homes, businesses, and restaurants do not have potable water yet and may not have access to it for a while. There are places you can drive to where non-profit groups have set up places where you can fill jugs of water, or at the local Wells Fargo Bank, there are people who hand out cases with gallons of water. But we are not an important story on the news anymore and, as usually happens, there will be a time when the government and aid disappear and we will be left to fend for ourselves.
For my wife and I, we are inconvenienced. For others who have lost their homes and/or businesses, they have hard decisions to make.
My wife taught on Sunday. I went back to a schedule of coaching and teaching. We are trying to return to normal again. It won’t be normal around us for a while.
