Resume Journey and Audience Once Job Seeker Applies

Love it? Share It!

Helping job seekers land more interviews with the resumes you write starts with understanding the resume’s audience in the journey the resume takes once they have applied.

As a career pro, these three (false) statements about the resume journey might make you laugh or roll your eyes:

1. When a resume is submitted it is sent to the hiring manager of the position.

2. When a resume is received it is always read and considered.

3. If your resume doesn’t get a high score with an ATS review tool, it’s going to fail.

However, there are job seekers out there who still believe this (and it’s why CDI’s consultation script has always been so successful in breaking DIY beliefs).

In this show I describe the three potential audiences and what you and your clients need to know to come out on top and consistently land more interviews.

This topic is foundational for anyone who wants to write the most effective resumes.
