By Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter
When companies sell products to us, they work on creating a brand identity to have their products stick out in our minds. Once they do that, often, we are prepared to pay a little more for it than a non-brand that does the same thing.
Don’t believe me?
When you buy laundry detergent, have you ever looked at the list of ingredients to see which combination of chemicals make your wash whiter? Of, course, not. We make a decision based upon price (store brand), coupon, what we are told to get by our wife, husband or partner who has never looked at the list of ingredients either, color and shape of the packaging, where it is positioned on the shelves (eye level always does better than a lower shelf).
It is easier to be chosen for the plum project or the new job if people know about you. The effort involved isn’t great.
And you have to make an effort.
