Yes, hiring managers want people who are competent. However, there are a lot of really competent people that you are competing with. Why should they choose you? Here’s what to do.
What is the hiring manager really looking for when they’re interviewing you? Competence is only one thing. Self-confidence, character, chemistry, maybe a little bit of charisma, because charismatic people always do better than non charismatics as a fact of life. Ultimately, what they’re trying to find out from you is whether they can trust you. That’s a feeling that you give them. That’s through your behavior. It’s how you communicate.
