Components of a Winning Resume - Replay

Love it? Share It!

Whether you’re a professional resume writer or a job seeker, in this show I’ve shared my blueprint or checklist of ten (10) key components of winning resumes.

Mastering these ten steps does create resumes that result in more interviews more quickly!

(And actually, I cover 11).

I also gave away another copy of my book, Resumes for Dummies, 8th edition on Kindle, to one attendee.

What are these key components of true winning resumes?

  1. Master/Core resumes.
  2. Job targeting.
  3. USPs and the top 1/3 of the first page.
  4. Keywords, where, when and how.
  5. Employment dates.
  6. Spin to win on potentially damaging content.
  7. Cross-the-bridge wording.
  8. Visual appeal and content consume-ability.
  9. Story telling.
  10. Proofreading
  11. ?? won’t apply to everyone but is a valuable tip.

This topic is foundational for anyone who wants to write the most effective resumes.

It was again hard not to give copies to everyone who showed up and participated! But these are copies of my book that I’m paying to share for Update Your Resume Month.

I announced it live —  Aricia Shaffer!

If you’d like the chance at a copy next week, plan to join me!

Update Your Resume Month logoWe’ve got lots of time leading up to and through September is Update Your Resume Month so next week I’m talking about what not to do in resume writing for winning outcomes. I’d love to tell you it’s just not to do the opposite of this top ten list, but it’s not that simple. I’ll be talking about topics to avoid, poison words, and tricky elements and components in the resume.

Be sure to join me for a chance at the giveaway!
